The Controller
PolyField Server
The hub of a field-events competition. One desktop app holds the events and athletes, receives every result from the PolyField App, drives the live screens, records wind, and produces statistics and graphics.
Runs on Windows and Mac, on a dedicated local network.
Integrations
Sync with competition management software
Download start lists and upload results as they happen. The published start-list order and event numbering are kept exactly.
-
OpenTrack
Sign in to OpenTrack and choose any competition you have Director rights to. Field events and entries are downloaded, and results uploaded in real time.
-
Athletics App
Enter the competition's link code to create the events and athletes, then upload results in real time.
-
Roster Athletics
Download start lists from Roster Athletics. Uploading results isn't possible with Roster yet; we'll add it as soon as it is.
The Server runs the meet on a dedicated local network. It needs an internet connection to link with your competition management system: downloading start lists, and uploading results to OpenTrack or Athletics App. Without internet it runs locally, but isn't linked to them. You can also create events by hand, and merge events such as two groups of the same discipline.
Network requirements
- A network of its own. Run PolyField on a dedicated network, separate from any guest or public Wi-Fi at the stadium.
- Devices must see each other. The network can't isolate devices (often called client or AP isolation) or split them into separate segments. App devices talk to PolyField Server, and screens talk to PolyField & Track Displays or Server, directly over the local network.
- Internet is optional. PolyField Server only needs it to link with your competition management system. PolyField & Track Displays never needs it.
One dashboard for the whole meet
Every event appears as a card with its status, so you can see the whole programme at a glance. Open any event to watch attempts arrive, see each athlete's series and review the standings.
- Not started: purple bar
- In progress: blue bar
- Finished: green bar
Results only ever come from an official through the field app, with every attempt timestamped, so there's a clear chain from the measurement to the board.
Live displays
Four live screens, on any browser
Open a page in any browser on the network. Nothing to install, and screens update the moment a result lands. The Displays button gives you a link and QR code for each one.
-
Results board
The latest performances on a big screen, with a landing map for throws. Ideal as the main screen for spectators.
-
Event standings
Live standings for several events at once, with medal positions highlighted. Fills any screen, including portrait, and rotates through long fields.
-
Announcer feed
A running feed of results as they arrive, newest at the top, sized for an announcer to read at a glance.
-
RAZA rankings
Para-athletics rankings scored with the World Para Athletics RAZA points system, so athletes in different classes compare on one board.
Heat maps
Every landing, plotted live
Each throw measured with an EDM appears in the sector in real time, coloured by round, for the whole competition or one athlete. Statistics show the average landing angle, spread and best marks.
Export any heat map as a square social media graphic to engage spectators, or give athletes a unique memento. See all statistics and graphics.
Wind gauges
Wind, captured all day
Connect Gill WindSonic 75 gauges over the network. The server records wind continuously for the whole day, for horizontal-jump legality, statistics and graphics.
Missed a wind reading on the track? If the track gauge was linked, look up the wind at that moment instead.
Wind graphics for social media
Square graphics for each gauge, with:
- Average wind and direction
- Percentage of readings legal under World Athletics rules
- Maximum tailwind and headwind gusts
- The full-day wind trend
Built for the day itself
-
PolyField Results (test feature)
Optionally publish to results.polyfield.co.uk so spectators can follow online. Athlete pages are anonymised and deleted after 90 days.
-
Recover from anything
One click saves a diagnostic bundle with the competition, logs and wind data. Use it to restore the meet if you need to swap computers mid-competition.
-
Five languages
Use the server in English, French, Spanish, Dutch or Portuguese.
-
Open API
A simple JSON API on the local network lets your own scoreboards, graphics or broadcast overlays read the live competition. See the Server manual.
